Tips on Choosing Kids Bath Sets

Choosing a bath set for the kids’ bathroom can actually be a bit tricky. In many homes kids tend to be assigned to use the shared bathroom, which is also the room guests generally use. So while you want the bathroom to be fun and reflect the personality of your children, you also want it to be functional for guests. Trying to achieve this balance can sometimes lead parents to choose neutral color bathroom sets that do not appeal to either group.

If you think about it however, most guests in the average household tend to be extended family members or close friends, who also have kids. They are more than likely the kids’ grandparents, aunts and uncles, who are accustomed to and love our children. Therefore, they are generally more forgiving of a bathroom that might be decorated in a juvenile manner. The key to bringing it all together and pleasing both groups is moderation rather than going totally neutral and dull. This strategy will also allow the bath set to grow with the kids as they get a little older.

A theme is perfect for kids bath set but do not go overboard. Mix a few key pieces with some neutral ones. A fun duck or frog theme, or the Disney bathroom set you see below, are not going to offend any guest.

Encourage your children to be a part of the selection when you go shopping for kids bathroom sets. Give them options for colors and themes. They can quickly become overwhelmed in a store so discuss it at home using ideas from magazines and online sources. Look for bath sets that offer fun and innovative pieces, like a donut shaped soap dispenser or a fish shaped trash can. Match up brightly colored towels and soaps for punches of color and keep big pieces like the shower curtain neutral. This will keep the color from overwhelming the bathroom.

You can be creative and still keep it fashionable. Stay simple with only a few items on the counter top. This will make cleaning a breeze and keep it from looking cluttered. One last accessory is to keep a folding light weight step stool handy to help short legs get up to the sink. The grandparents won’t need it but your three year old son or daughter asserting their independence and wanting to be able to wash their own hands is sure to appreciate it.

The Best Kids Bathroom Sets

Kids love bath time if you make it fun for them and one way is to decorate the bathroom with lots of fun bright accessories which will make them want to spend time in the bathroom. There are a lot of special kids bathroom sets which make your decorating job a little easier and here is how you can find the best for your child.

1. Consider Your Child’s Tastes

Kids usually have a distinct preference for one cartoon character for another or for one color or another so do what you can to incorporate those preferences. When looking at kids bathroom accessory sets you’ll find all tastes catered for so you should not have too many problems choosing one if you only have one child to consider. Of course, if you have two or more children, some compromise my be needed because it’s no good looking at girls bathroom sets in pretty as a picture pink if you also have a ten year old son. And sure as eggs are eggs, your daughter will not appreciate a pirate or jungle theme either. Instead look for a more gender neutral theme such as frogs, rainbows or ducks or have fun choosing a whole range of sunshine yellow or lime green accessories to keep things bright.

2. Don’t Spend a Fortune

The thing with kids is that their tastes change and you’ll be shopping again before you know it. So don’t spend an arm and a leg on bathroom sets for kids. Keep the cost reasonable and you’ll be less upset when your little treasure declares that they now hate Dora the Explorer or that bright pink accessories now make them feel sick. Kids bath accessories are generally a little lower in price anyway than those for adults but when you shop you can often save a fortune by buying online at places like eBay or Amazon (see the whole a range of low prices on kids bath sets HERE)

3. Keep Things Safe

If you’re buying a particular kids bathroom set that is described as such then you should not have any problems with safety, but if your child is a little older and wants something a bit more grown up or you have decided on a theme where standard bathroom accessories will work well then be sure to avoid anything which is easily breakable. This would include anything ceramic or made of glass. Not only would you be upset that part of the set was broken (and you might not be able to buy the components individually) but the broken pieces are likely to be sharp and jagged. Not something you want in a kid’s bathroom.

4. A Do It Yourself Approach

If you have the time think about how you might put together a set of kids bathroom accessories yourself. That way you will only have to buy the items you need and won’t be overrun with too many items decorated in Disney characters, dolphins or Barbie dolls. Sometimes in decoration (especially for a small room like most kids bathrooms) less is more and just a few matching items are better than a whole bathroom set. Think about what you actually need from the range out of the items available such as towels, bath rugs, shower curtains, toothbrush mugs, waste bins, soap dishes or dispensers and tissue boxes. Have some items with the chosen theme and buy others in a plain matching or coordinating color.
