Bathroom Set Selection

If you looking to find a wonderful bathroom set, you have made a good choice because there is no better way to finish off your bathroom and give it a pulled together look. Once you know your requirements you will find a whole selection of bathroom sets online to choose from here, many at a discount from those you will find in local stores.

But what makes a great bathroom accessory set?

The best accessories are the ones that are just right for your bathroom, so they have the following characteristics.

1. The Right Color

Most of us have a white bathroom these days but it does not follow that you then need only look at white bathroom accessories sets. In fact, these sets are a great way to add a much needed injection of interest or color into your room and you do that by choosing a material other than white china! You don’t have to necessarily choose a bright color like lime green or red however as a chrome or stainless steel bathroom set would look wonderful too if it ties in with faucets and other fittings. If you do choose a bathroom set in a particular color, think about getting a set with more than one color. For example, a set in white, royal blue and turquoise gives you a couple of colors to complement with towels and other items so your bathroom has more than two colors going on. Everything in black and white, for example, looks less interesting than everything in black and white and an injection of a couple of items in hot pink.

2. The Right Style

There are all kinds of styles you can buy in a bathroom accessories set which is just as well because there are all kinds of bathrooms! If you have an ultra-modern contemporary bathroom then you need a bathroom set with simple smooth lines and a plain design probably in a material like hardwood, chrome or stainless steel. If you have a period style bathroom then you need accessories to suit too and will have more success with china bathroom accessories. And for a kids bathroom look at bathroom accessory sets that are specially designed for them and which will typically be adorned with their favorite cartoon characters or fun animals like frogs, ducks or dinosaurs. If you are tempted to buy a set because it has a design you like, think about whether it suits your bathroom. Some of this is personal taste of course. Perhaps bathroom sets with dolphins, horses or goldfish appeal to you but are they going to make your bathroom look like it is ready to be photographed for an interiors magazine? Maybe not, but if that doesn’t matter to you then go ahead and buy what you like. The bathroom is a personal room after all.

3. The Right Items

A bathroom set should be practical above all so choose one which has the bathroom items you need and will use. If you don’t like those toothbrush holders with space for five toothbrushes (perhaps because you use an electric toothbrush or you are a family of six) buy a set that does not have this item. If you have particular requirements a set which is made up of many individual coordinating pieces that you buy as single items might be right for you. On the other hand, sometimes it can make sense to buy a bathroom set with items you will simply put to one side because it is cheaper than buying individual pieces.

The Best Kids Bathroom Sets

Kids love bath time if you make it fun for them and one way is to decorate the bathroom with lots of fun bright accessories which will make them want to spend time in the bathroom. There are a lot of special kids bathroom sets which make your decorating job a little easier and here is how you can find the best for your child.

1. Consider Your Child’s Tastes

Kids usually have a distinct preference for one cartoon character for another or for one color or another so do what you can to incorporate those preferences. When looking at kids bathroom accessory sets you’ll find all tastes catered for so you should not have too many problems choosing one if you only have one child to consider. Of course, if you have two or more children, some compromise my be needed because it’s no good looking at girls bathroom sets in pretty as a picture pink if you also have a ten year old son. And sure as eggs are eggs, your daughter will not appreciate a pirate or jungle theme either. Instead look for a more gender neutral theme such as frogs, rainbows or ducks or have fun choosing a whole range of sunshine yellow or lime green accessories to keep things bright.

2. Don’t Spend a Fortune

The thing with kids is that their tastes change and you’ll be shopping again before you know it. So don’t spend an arm and a leg on bathroom sets for kids. Keep the cost reasonable and you’ll be less upset when your little treasure declares that they now hate Dora the Explorer or that bright pink accessories now make them feel sick. Kids bath accessories are generally a little lower in price anyway than those for adults but when you shop you can often save a fortune by buying online at places like eBay or Amazon (see the whole a range of low prices on kids bath sets HERE)

3. Keep Things Safe

If you’re buying a particular kids bathroom set that is described as such then you should not have any problems with safety, but if your child is a little older and wants something a bit more grown up or you have decided on a theme where standard bathroom accessories will work well then be sure to avoid anything which is easily breakable. This would include anything ceramic or made of glass. Not only would you be upset that part of the set was broken (and you might not be able to buy the components individually) but the broken pieces are likely to be sharp and jagged. Not something you want in a kid’s bathroom.

4. A Do It Yourself Approach

If you have the time think about how you might put together a set of kids bathroom accessories yourself. That way you will only have to buy the items you need and won’t be overrun with too many items decorated in Disney characters, dolphins or Barbie dolls. Sometimes in decoration (especially for a small room like most kids bathrooms) less is more and just a few matching items are better than a whole bathroom set. Think about what you actually need from the range out of the items available such as towels, bath rugs, shower curtains, toothbrush mugs, waste bins, soap dishes or dispensers and tissue boxes. Have some items with the chosen theme and buy others in a plain matching or coordinating color.

Bathroom Sets FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Here are some questions that have been asked about bathroom sets. If you don’t find the answers on this page, you can contact us with a question (see Contact Us link below)

Q. I have a granite counter top in my bathroom. What kind of accessories would go with this?

A. A granite counter top is generally in the cool end of the color spectrum so I would choose chrome, white china or stainless steel accessories.

Q. How far is too far with matching items in a bathroom accessory set?

A. Well it depends on a number of things. In particular how large the room is and therefore how close together the items are. A lot of items matching can be overpowering in a small bathroom but would not be a problem in a large one.

In any case, it almost always looks good to have matching soap dish, toothbrush holder, toilet roll holder and lotion bottle so I wouldn’t worry about going that far in any bathroom. And you can generally have a matching wastebasket because that is down on the floor and separated from the other items.

Where you have to take care especially in a small room is if you have all your curtains or blinds, shower curtains, towels and the bath accessories I listed above all matching – that would be a step too far in my opinion but it’s also a question of what you like. It is YOUR bathroom and you get to choose!

In some instances, and you can see this in some of the sets displayed on this site, manufacturers have tackled this issue for you by creating items that tone in well without being overpoweringly similar.

Q. Where can I buy bathroom sets?

A. I would browse around online – you will find a whole lot of them and you can shop conveniently 24 by 7 every day of the year from your sofa! Also take a look at the sets displayed here for some great bathroom accessories at reasonable prices.

Q. I have had a separate bathroom built for my kids. Can you buy bathroom accessories with a kids’ theme?

A. Yes, there are some lovely accessories available just for kids and you can create a very attractive bright room for them full of color. I have seen a lovely bathroom set with ducks on it but there are also other “non-ducky” themes and some great shower curtains and accessories with cartoon characters which suit older kids too. Think about pictures on the walls and bright soft fluffy towels and a bath mat for splashes of color too. By the way make sure the bathroom sets you are considering for your kids are shatter-proof because broken glass or china can be dangerously sharp.
